Re Jailbreak and Unlock your iPhone with Baseband 06.15.00

Restoring your iPhone 3GS

With my computer I like to format it roughly twice a year. Sometimes you want to format your iPhone too. You know, restore it to it’s factory defaults. That’s a pretty easy thing to do with iTunes. But what if when you try to restore your jailbroken iphone with iTunes you receive the error 1015?

Fixing the iTunes Error 1015

There is a security feature within the iTunes restore procedure (towards the end of course :D ) that will check your basebase against allowed versions, and 06.15.00 is not an allowed version! Not yet anyway. At first it seemed that I would have to restore an older iOS 4.1 and then deal with that. But, with a little more research I found sn0wbreeze 2.2, a custom IPSW creator for 4.2.1.

Restoring Custom iOS 4.2.1 IPSW to iPhone

  1. You need to download the IPSW file for iOS 4.2.1, follow the link below to get the proper version for your iPhone
  2. If you didn’t follow the link above, then use the one below to grab the latest copy of sn0wbreeze
  3. Run sn0wbreeze and use the file you downloaded in step one
  4. You can use advanced mode if you like, but simple mode works great. Click simple mode :D
  5. Play PacMan!
This amazingly simple program does it all. If you’re stuck in the iPhone recovery loop problem, sn0wbreeze can help. The best news about this program is that it jailbreaks your iPhone with greenpois0n and allows you to unlock your iPhone using ultrasn0w.

Unlocking your iPhone with ultrasn0w

After you are done restoring your iPhone you will need to get online in order to unlock the iPhone. I just used my wireless connection as I need the unlock to use the 3G Internet.
  1. Open Cyndia (slide to the page on the right) and search for ultrasn0w
  2. Install
  3. Unlocked, too easy!
