Armed Robberies becoming the Norm in Costa Rica

Inside Costa Rica

Every morning I check the Costa Rica News, and InsideCostaRica.com is one of my stops. It seems that there is a lot of crime in Costa Rica, although I have not seen any myself. I have seen a lot of drug addicts, but that is mostly in the bigger cities, the same as it is in the states.

Today’s article was titled “It’s Not Safe To Go Dining Anymore In Costa Rica!” Click on the link and read this, some unfortunate man of 75 years decided he would not give anything to the thieves and was shot in the head.

However, this time, something went terribly wrong, when 75 year old Antonio Lehmann Struve decided to confront the assailants, losing his life in the struggle, angering the assailants, shooting the man in the head in rage.

These types of crimes are happening more often now, and with the summer approaching they could continue to rise.

Safety First

It is true that most criminals who rob someone at gunpoint either have no bullets in the gun, or have never even used the gun before. BUT, that does not mean you should try and defend yourself, especially if there are 3 of them! Do yourself, and your family a favor. Give them what they want. You can always make more money.

How awful Jim. As you say, it's just not worth going after thieves. Stuff can be replaced but you can't get your life back.

  3. Yeah, things like this are in the news every day.
