Costa Rica Judicial System

Unfortunately they do not have a real website that has links to each article. So go to this page, and look for the article with this headline
Nine of 10 Pavas drug gang suspects set free by judge
I try to read this Costa Rica online newspaper every day and this one was just funny. Especially the last part.
Typically in such cases the judges order that suspects also keep a steady job. But drug agents say that the suspects already have steady jobs being one of the two principal suppliers of crack cocaine to the Central Valley from their Lomas del Río de Pavas headquarters.
I guess it’s pretty common that when you have a big drug “gang” that it would be backed and supported by the government. And, of course 2 person to take the fall. I just never saw it so plainly in the newspaper.
:)

gaa! i had heard rumors about the drug trade in costa rica, and i hate to think that it is true because the country has so much promise. but when you read about all the trouble mexico is having from drugs and gangs, you hate to think it could happen in costa rica too.
a.m. costa rica is a great little newspaper.
@Seraphine : The thing is that there are 3.5 million ticos here and over 5 million total people (nicos, gringos and others). Too many people to not have drugs and crime, but going up to the judges is when it gets bad… The crime is like any other place though, we know where NOT to go. In my time here I have not had one problem with crime, so I am not sure that it is too bad a place, just certain areas.
Yeah, AMCR is nice. I wish they would update their site though!
yes, i should trademark my own peculiar yammering. but that would just call more attention to what i’d rather keep quiet. LOL
costa rica is lovely. the only place that i thought was creepy was jaco.
and also, that area where you walk out of the airport and you have all those strange people wanting to help you, the taxi drivers and such. they don’t leave you alone long enough to get your bearings.
@Seraphine: I couldn’t agree more. Jaco is not my favorite beach and the people asking for 500 colones to move your luggage are a pain.
