Storm Rolling In Costa Rica

It's getting ready to rain...

Storm Rolling In

A typical afternoon during the rain season in Costa Rica shows the clouds covering all of Escazu and moving towards Heredia. I took 3 photos a couple days ago and used the Photomerge utility in Photoshop to make this panoramic. Absolutely no other editing on the photo, obviously.. No more than an hour later the rain is falling and I am hoping I don’t lose power, or worse the Internet!

Funny thing is I have been up since 3:30am and got to see a great sunrise.

And at around noon we will have the clouds rolling in again.

A typical day in Costa Rica

That’s pretty much how the day goes during the rain season. There are spots where it will rain for 3 days or so and times when it will not rain for a week, but for the most part expect a great morning, some rain in the afternoon, and a clear cool night…

Nice I recognize the area, been there. For a newbe you have the weather patterns down pretty good. I used to say something like “wake up to clear mornings, rain comes in the afternoon then clearing for a beautiful sunset.” One other thing is; normally if you get up in the morning and it is raining it will soon stop. BUT if it starts raining after you get up then the chances of it raining all day is very high. Of course this depends on how good a night you had.

I am thinking about traveling to Costa Rica during the first week in August. I enjoyed your photos. Is it a good idea to visit during that time of the year? Thanks- Linda

      Hola Linda,

Sorry to be replying so late, but I have on a business trip in the US. I am back in Costa Rica now and loving it. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my photos.

As for August, that is during rain season. So you are kind of testing your luck. Check out the website link below and it will help you decide which month is best to visit..
