Firebug for Web Development

Firebug for Web Development

Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of web development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.

Firebug Extension for FireFox

One of the main reasons for me to use Firefox over Chrome is for the extensions. Normally I am all about speed and would be running Chrome all day, except I am just too used to using my FireFox extensions, in particular Firebug.

There are many reasons to use Firebug, but for me the main reason is to debug the code on my website. I try to keep my code valid and clean, when possible. But, with WordPress plugins there is a lot of code that gets inserted into your pages while they are loading, give us little control. But thanks to Firebug I can check out the code that was inserted, and find out which ID’s and Classes they are so that I can change their appearance using  CSS or jQuery.

Firebug even allows you to see any data that you are passing through forms, so you can check to make sure your data is being sent properly. No web developer should be without this extension.

we got a new computer, so i was looking for a way to destroy the old hard drive (i read horror stories about people hacking recycled ones). most suggestions seemed to include acid, magnets, special screwdrivers, hammers or drills. my fav was the one that said the best way to destroy a hard drive is to install windows and IE. LOL.

Here’s how it works, briefly. Your hard drive can store your data on multiple layers of the disk. When you delete something, it is not really deleted until the hard drive needs that room, and even then it can be recovered by a forensics team.

The best thing to do is check out this website, it is an article teaching you how to securely wipe out your hard drive, FOR FREE..

As much of an open source fan I am, I have to say that Windows 7 has been perfect for me, with absolutely no issues, besides the Skype which was easy.

Firebug is a must have. I use it all the time. Just right click and inspect any element. You can even edit the code so you can see what the page would look like with different values. Pretty cool stuff.
