Google Voice gives you a single phone number that rings all your phones, saves your voicemail online, and transcribes your voicemail to text.

On June 25th Google announced that it would be allowing people to request invites to their Google Voice service. I instantly signed up and just now got my invite. For a while there I was thinking that I wouldn’t get one, but I guess Google does like me.

What is Google Voice?

Well, why not let you hear it from Google. When you sign up you will have a message from GV right away. One of the first cool features I noticed was the Embed Voicemail feature. Just click more down at the end of the message.

Call Me

In 5 seconds I added the call me widget to my blog. Check it out at the top right hand corner. I haven’t tested it, because I can’t. I am in Costa Rica and Google Voice does not work here yet. I was able to set it up using my Massachusetts telephone and Internet connection.

    Hey that’s pretty cool. I didn’t know about this. I bet that’s really helpful when you live out of your native country and want to keep in contact with friends and family.

      I have been using a mix of Vonage and Skype for years and been pretty happy, but GV gives me a free number, which I do not have to post. Just click that button and it calls me.

      When you call I can;

      Take the call
      Send to voicemail
      Screen voicemail
      Record conversation

      I am happy so far :) I just can’t wait until they integrate this into G-Talk

    hey man, Im in costa Rica aswell, how can i activate google voice if i dont have a forwarding number?? yo text me if u can REMOVED or give me a call THX

        Ok i did what u told me, i got someone to activate over in the US, but i still cannot make calls. Isnt google voice suposed to make calls over internet?? I have an iphone, and im with ICE here in Costa Rica. I DO have internet access and im on their 3G network. I go to safari and enter google.com.voice, i log in and i get the keypad, i dial a 908, number and it gives me another number to call, but i cant because i dont have international calling activated on my phone.. am i missing a step here?? Thx Man
