Keeping the Planet Clean can be Fun
Give Volkswagen some credit here. They are taking some failing ideas and making them work by inserting a little fun. I still walk down main streets that do not have trash barrels for the pedestrians, basically tempting us to throw our trash on the sidewalk or street. But, even on the streets where there are trash barrels, people still throw their trash on the street. The World’s Deepest Bin
To throw rubbish in the bin instead of onto the floor shouldn’t really be so hard. Many people still fail to do so. Can we get more people to throw rubbish into the bin, rather than onto the ground, by making it fun to do? See the results here.

Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better” is something we often hear or read in the Sunday papers. Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do? See the results here.

Many of us return our plastic bottles and cans. Noticeably fewer recycle their glass. Maybe that’s because we don’t get any money in return, as we do for cans and plastic. Hi Jim – I love those piano stairs are ace. I love the idea of using fun to persuade people to do things. The world would be a whole lot different if fun was used more in places like workplaces and schools.
