Top 5 Web Designer Tools for Firefox
There are hundreds, if not thousands of tools out there to help out web designers or developers. I have installed and uninstalled so many Firefox extensions that I wouldn’t dare count. After months of testing out different web designer tools I noticed a few were “static”. I use these extensions every day and they are all time savers.
Here are the Top 5 Web Designer Tools for Firefox, in my opinion.
Firebug
I wrote about Firebug for Web Development in the past and can’t tell you how much I love it. Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of web development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page.
Web Developer
I could go on for an hour about this extension. From the site; “The Web Developer extension adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools.” I use this mainly for validating my site and testing for different screen resolutions.
ColorZilla
This extension allows me to really get the color I need, EXACTLY. Advanced Eyedropper, ColorPicker, Page Zoomer and other colorful goodies…
MeasureIT
When dealing with WordPress themes you will find that you have limitations to the size of the photos you can use, but it is not always documented. With this extension I can find out exactly what size any element on my screen is. Draw out a ruler to get the pixel width and height of any elements on a webpage.
FireShot
FireShot is a Firefox extension that creates screenshots of web pages (entirely or just visible part).
Unlike other extensions, this plugin provides a set of editing and annotation tools, which let users quickly modify web captures and insert text annotations and graphical annotations. Such functionality will be especially useful for web designers, testers and content reviewers.

i keep everything as spare as possible.
there are no favorite tools, or few.
i eat with my hands, comparitively speaking.
@Seraphine : For some reason I feel you do eat with your hands. Was that a picture of you in your last post?
I use Web Developer and Color Zilla all the time. At least 5 times a week for each. I highly recommend both of them. Good post, thanks for sharing.
@Max : Thanks for stopping by. Vroooom, I like that…Nice site
I couldn’t live without Firebug. When I read your title I thought to myself, he better have Firebug on there! lol.
I also like the JSView addon. It lets you view a website’s sytle sheet and javascript. Also, I use the Ghostery addon. It lets me see what analytics programs each site uses.
@John : You know, since I changed my computer I haven’t installed JSView again. You are right, it was nice to be able to download all the CSS and JS files. I can do that in Firebug, just a little akward. I am going to check out Ghostery too. Thanks,
Nice list, knew about 4 of them and use those 4 all the time.
Fireshot is new to me and will be wicked useful! Especially for SEO clients, where I can screen cap the whole page and put in notes about what should be fixed.
@Adam : Sweet, I haven’t been to MA in a while and it’s nice to here WICKED…Getting full screen websites had been the hardest thing to do in the past.. I knew you would have the rest!
Thanks for the article.
